Looking back had we known we would be on the move we probably would have gone about purchasing a camper with a very different mindset. Sarah and I spent days researching and planning out our perfect idea of what we wanted, well you know what they say about plans right!

We started out with little to no knowledge on operating or even owning a RV, we visited all of the big box stores for campers within a 300 mile radius. We looked at Destination trailers, 5th wheels, and travel trailers and honestly travel trailers were originally at the bottom of our list. Every time it seemed that we had made our decision on purchasing a specific brand or model something popped up diverting our attention elsewhere. We had just spent an entire day walking through hundreds of campers and had our mind made up, when a friend mentioned a RV show in Greensboro, NC. We loaded up the boys and took off on the day of the show and boy am I glad we did.

What a great opportunity it was to walk the show and look at all of the models side by side so that we could look at the build quality and compare prices right there on the spot. We wandered into a Venture SportTrek from a small dealership just outside of Asheboro, NC. Sarah and I right away noticed that it was the complete opposite of what we had originally thought we wanted. Smaller bedrooms and a larger living area with no washer/dryer hookups (Now at this point and time we still planned on being stationary), this camper was just about the exact opposite of what we felt we needed. Regardless when we sat down in the living area something just felt right, we did our due diligence and looked at just about every camper in our price range but we kept circling back around to the SportTrek.

Americamp RV was the name of the dealership and neither Sarah or myself had heard of them, Kris the sales/finance guy there was absolutely the most helpful and dare I say honest one we had met to date. Every time we came back he answered our questions and even took the time to phone the service techs if he couldn’t answer it himself. Kris took the time to listen to our story and really got into it himself!

We made the decision to purchase a Venture SportTrek and even though our plans have changed we couldn’t be happier with our purchase.
